A team shouldn’t have the responsibility to onboard and train a new employee. The manager should retain that responsibility until the employee can be a self sufficient part of any team, including a self organizing team. Otherwise the team can’t be productive and the employee won’t be able to contribute up to their potential. That’s why this model still works, situationally depending on the specific circumstances.
