With the New Year quickly approaching, you may think it’s too late to plan for your small business. With this simple process, you can go into the new year with a fresh perspective and a solid direction. Whether you are a solopreneur or a small business owner, these seven questions will help you get started on the right foot.

The Outcome

Let’s start by looking at the outcome of this so you know where you are headed. The goal of planning is to help you build out a time-blocked list of important things you need to do that improve your business. Annual planning is more about going to the highest level and thinking about your business.

Here is a sample spreadsheet that you can build to help you capture and prioritize your ideas. You can also do this on paper or whatever other tool you use. The process is the same, and the outcome should be similar. This gives you a baseline to use throughout the year. As new things come up, this gives you a simple way to prioritize the new ideas without losing the bigger priorities.
