I really like the quick metrics on stress, goals, alignment, career path, and feedback. Great way to check in without having to go into a lot of details unless there's a need.

Rather than say away from the personal check-in, I'd leave it on the agenda and just ask a better question, like "anything happening this weekend that you are excited about", or "are you getting enough personal downtime". I totally agree you have to follow their comfort level, but you don't have to pry into a lot of personal details to show you are interested in them.
