Incredible summary of the frustrating state of education, and the woeful lack of alignment between what students learn and what they will need in the workplace.
Having retired from a long corporate career, and having a doctorate in education, I have applied to many adjunct jobs in the last six months wanting to help close the gaps between school and work, pathetic pay ok at this point.
Mostly my applications are met with silence. The few I’ve heard from say I don’t have the “right” number of credits in whatever weirdly specific course they want instructors for.
With too much public funding, no accountability, and no real pressure to change, schools and universities have no impetus to change. I worry about the future generations’ ability to adapt to a quickly changing future.
