Strategy exists at all levels. If you are running a team and working on any sort of change to better prepare that team for the future, that is strategic. When asked, make sure to put that context in your description of what your team is doing. It isn’t always the size of the team or the breadth of the responsibility that makes you strategic. It’s recognizing that your team needs to change to prepare for the next version of the company’s needs, contextualizing that for them, and building the ladder they need to climb to be high performing for the next ten years, not just the next ten months.
